Quick Tips
Shortcuts and best practices for building in Base44.
Paste the real error text
When something shows red, copy the exact error text — not your description of it — into the builder chat and approve the fix it offers. This solves almost every error you'll hit.
Use the right chat mode
Build mode makes the change. Discuss mode talks it through without changing your app (right for questions). Plan mode shows what it'll do before it starts.
Describe what you want, not how
Say what should be on the screen and what should happen when you press things. Let the builder figure out the build.
Name the button that does nothing
If a button won't work, tell the builder chat exactly which button does nothing and what you expected it to do.
Publish to get your link
The Publish button puts your app live and gives you a link anyone can open. Save it somewhere you'll find it.
Add a login before you share
Anyone with the link can open what you publish. If strangers can type into your app, add a login before you share it anywhere.
Follow the videos
When a video and the written lesson differ, follow the video. The written steps are there to re-read when you want it in text.
Come back tomorrow
If something simply stops and there's no error on screen, stop for the day and keep going tomorrow.
